Big Green Egg Porterhouse Recipe

Big Green Egg Porterhouse Recipe

This is one of my favorite recipes. You just can’t beat the taste of a great steak when it comes off the Big Green Egg.

Start off with some good quality porterhouse steaks. When you choose your steaks for the Big Green Egg make sure you get only USDA choice or prime steaks. This will ensure that the the steaks are tender and have the wonderful taste that your looking for in a great steak. As for the thickness of the porterhouse steaks I suggest you look for steaks between 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches thick. If you choose steaks that are too thin, they will get overdone on the inside before they develop a nice crust on the outside.

After you get home with your porterhouse steaks place them on a platter. Drizzle the porterhouse steaks on both sides with a good olive oil. Sprinkle the steaks with kosher salt and cracked black pepper. Let the porterhouse steaks come to room temp.

Now its time to fire up your Big Green Egg. Get the temperature up to 700 degrees. Once the temperature is stable, it’s time to grill your steaks.

I have found that as long as your steaks are about an 1 1/2″ thick, you can follow the same cooking procedure.

Place the steaks on the grill.

Grill for 4 min. with the lid down.

Burp the Egg.

Flip the steaks over and cook for another 4 min. with the lid down.

Remove the porterhouse steaks from your Big Green Egg

Let the steaks rest for 10 min. and then enjoy.
